We’ve changed how add-on licenses work: updates are now lifetime, and only support is tied to your license period.
Previously, both updates and support stopped the moment your license expired. Now, once you’ve purchased an add-on, you’ll keep getting every future update for it — security fixes, compatibility fixes, new features — whether or not your license is still active. What lapses after a year (unless you renew) is support: priority help from us when something isn’t working.
Why we changed this
An expired license used to be a dead end. If you needed an add-on update — to fix a bug, or simply to keep it working with a new WP Store Locator release — an expired license meant you couldn’t get it without renewing first, even for a critical fix.
That became a real problem with the 3.0 upgrade: the CSV Manager, Statistics and Search Widget add-ons all need to be on version 2.0 or later to work with 3.0’s rewritten codebase. Under the old model, anyone with an expired license would have been stuck — unable to update the very add-on that needed updating. Under the new one, that update is simply there, license status aside.
What this means for you
- Updates never stop. Every add-on you’ve purchased keeps receiving new versions, indefinitely, regardless of your license status.
- Support still follows your license period. Renewing gets you priority support for another year — it no longer has anything to do with whether updates keep coming.
- An expired license is not the problem if an add-on update isn’t showing up — updates were never gated on it in the first place, so look elsewhere for the cause.
Renew whenever you’d like continued support, but never because you’re worried an update won’t show up otherwise. You can check your license status any time under Store Locator > Settings > Licenses, or from your account page.
